Floor Has A Hump

The home has a basement where we can see the floors and i cannot see anything.
Floor has a hump. I pulled up the wood laminate flooring and found 3 shattered tiles that had shoved upwards and 2 more with cracks down the middle that hadn t shoved upwards. Some causes have easy fixes such as replacing certain parts of the flooring. The cause of the damage can vary based on the type of basement you have and what floor material you use. The bump was in wood laminate flooring that was layed down over the original tiled floor main floor the slab.
If the hump in the floor feels spongy or gives underfoot when you walk on it the most likely cause of the problem is underlayment that has come loose from the subfloor. Hi we are in the process of buying a house and we have no clue what to do about this floor. If your floor is the new laminate floating floor variety you can try to remove the baseboards on either end of the section with the bump if the flooring is butted pretty tight to the wall you can cut about a 1 4 off the flooring with a hacksaw. This was done before i bought the house.
In ideal conditions a finish floor s surface will be flat across the entire installation area. In the colder months your bump will probably disappear since wood shrinks in cold. A hump in a subfloor occurs for different reasons. For instance the builder may not have properly installed the subfloors regardless of the reason you have to repair the subfloor to preserve your existing floor or make sure that your newly installed floor doesn t sustain future damage.
